Maybe It's Time To Throw In The Towel

The President unveiled his new master plan to tame the Iraq situation yesterday, by announcing that 21,500 more troops will be deployed there shortly. Although most of his high ranking military advisers told him that more boots on the ground will have little effect on where the situation in Iraq is currently going, the President stayed confident in his strategy and did not lose focus of his objectives ... and promptly reassigned these nay saying generals to other duties that do not include any contact with the Commander in Chief at all. Coincidence, I'm sure. What I initially thought was a war for nothing more than oil, now has me convinced that it's a personal vendetta. A recent poll conducted after this news broke found that 70% of Americans oppose the deployment of more troops to the region, and quite a bit of lawmakers in Washington feel the same way. Government of the people, by the people, for the people ... well it's apparent that the majority of "the people" are not happy with how things are going, and I don't see 70% of the elected officials who are there to represent us echoing our frustration. There really comes a point at which you need to throw in the towel ... and I think we're at it.
